As a certified CHEK Functional Health Coach and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner with over 30 years of experience in the health and fitness industry, Shelly employs a truly holistic and integrative, clinically tested system to coach her clients toward achieving their goals.

Whether you're a super-gran, stay-at-home parent, trade, entrepreneur, small business owner, larger business owner, runner, skier, recreational weightlifter, or elite athlete, have back pain, neck pain, poor posture, digestive problems, low energy, anxiety or mild depression, the way you use and move your body affects the way you feel, both mentally and physically, and how well you perform.

If you'd like guidance in any of these areas. I love to help.

 More about me:

I first entered the fitness industry in my very early 20’s, aspiring to share with the others the experience of improved physical, mental, and emotional health I’d gained through discovering exercise in my teens.

Not an “athletic” or “sporty” person at all, I had experienced my fair share of depression and poor health by this time, and discovered a love of moving my body, improved confidence, positive role models, a natural alternative to antidepressant medication, and most importantly at the time, a place I felt I belonged, when I began attending the local gym. After beginning as an aerobics and gym instructor in my home town of Napier, I quickly moved into personal training a year after moving to Christchurch. I wanted to offer the people I worked with more – more individualised programmes to meet their goals and needs, more service, and more support. This ultimately lead to more results for my clients, and more job satisfaction for me. During this time I also competed many times both regionally and nationally in bodysculpting. This improved my ability to set and achieve goals, overcome my fears, and further improved my confidence. Noticing that I again experienced positive changes in my heath; less gas, bloating and constipation and better energy, I also began to make the connection between what I ate and how I felt. Another piece of the puzzle…. Taking time out to have children and raise a family, I decided to take the opportunity to learn more about some of the underlying causes of some of these health challenges I’d experienced, which are so common. It seemed to me that the human body is designed for perfect function. And doesn’t malfunction for no reason. I couldn’t understand why a person who seemed to have an awesome life could feel that the world would be better off without them. And I also suspected that although there are many common features, what worked for one, would not work for another. So I set about studying Optimal Health and Fitness through Practical Nutrition and Holistic Lifestyle Coaching with the CHEK Institute and more recently Functional Diagnostic Nutrition which is a type of detective work using functional lab testing to identify common imbalances and malfunctions which contribute to and correlate with many of the symptoms people experience.

Yours in Health and Happiness,
